Species
Trout -both brown and rainbows have strong population in the area.
Average are at ap. 40cm, but there is p
lenty of larger ones, up to 60-70cm, with legends about fish up to 80cm.
There is no need to go to New Zealand anymore. The best method is flyfishing with
nymphs and streamers at the start of season and dry flies, which offers the best sport during late spring and summer
Grayling - both San and Dunajec are often described as "grayling heaven" or "Eldorado" as they offer probably the best grayling fishing in Europe.
Fish are active during all day, with excellent evening rises to dry flies. Fish up to 50+ are your possible catch.
Huchen/danube salmon - the largest fish in the salmonids family, similar to famous taimien. Huge, aggressive and powerful as well as fast current dwelling - that makes them a real challenge even for the most experienced anglers. Best results are with large crankbaits, but flyfishing offers the biggest dose of adrenaline avaible for European flyfisherman.
You need good quality heavy tackle - #9-10 being a basic minimum,but we can provide all the necessary tackle if required. Proper casting skills are essential as flies often reach 15-20cm.
Usually they reach size of 80-90cm but fish up to 120cm are caught every year.
Catfish - the biggest freshwater fish in Europe.
They often reach astonishing size of over 70 kilos and 2 meters.
During day they dwell in deep holes, under sunken trees seeking cover from daylight.
They might be extremely aggressive if your lure reaches their lair, some takes being incredibly strong.
Fight with a large catfish might be very challenging as their dwellings offers them a lot of opportunities to free themselves. The best time for large catfish is night or just before thunderstorm.
They leave their daytime shelter and are feeding voraciously, chasing pray even to the surface of water.
They tend to move to shallow water where they slaughter smaller fish. Usually takes are very aggressive and fish is speeding tom reach its shelter... you have to be prepared for 100m long runs just after the take.
Absolute top of the sport for any angler.
Zander - similar to American walleye, but larger it is another night feeding fish.
During daytime they prefer deeper water and might be very choosy about the bait but during night they seems to lose their sophisticated taste and are feeding very aggressively, making them much easier to catch.
Their usual size is between 2 to 4 kg but fish up to 10kg are possible, especially during autumn.
